Electricity: Prices
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, what steps she will take to help lower the cost of electricity for a) residents and b) businesses in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
Answered by Department for Energy Security and Net Zero
Tackling affordability is this Government's number one priority. For households, we are removing VAT from domestic electricity bills from 1 October, alongside measures announced at the last Budget which took an average £150 of costs off energy bills.
Around 6 million families are also benefitting from the expanded Warm Home Discount.
For businesses, our British Industrial Competitiveness Scheme will reduce electricity costs for over 10,000 manufacturing businesses, while the British Industry Supercharger cuts electricity costs for the most electricity-intensive industries.
