Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government: Northern Ireland

Asked by Adam JogeeLabourMinistry of Housing, Communities and Local GovernmentTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 23737

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, what plans she has to engage with the Northern Ireland Executive on her departmental priorities.

Answered by Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government

The Interministerial Group (IMG) for Housing, Communities & Local Government meets regularly to discuss shared priorities with the devolved governments, including the Northern Ireland Executive. At its most recent meeting in February, ministers discussed challenges and solutions to increasing housing supply and agreed that officials would work together to identify a suitable date for the next meeting. Planning is now underway, and we expect the IMG to meet again in the Autumn.

Alongside the IMG, the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government maintains strong working relationships with the devolved governments across a range of priority policy areas. We will continue to engage closely with counterparts to address shared challenges, both within the department’s areas of responsibility and, where appropriate, across wider UK Government engagement with the devolved governments.
