Ministry of Defence: Northern Ireland

Asked by Adam JogeeLabourMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 23741

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what plans he has to engage with the Northern Ireland Executive on his departmental priorities.

Answered by Ministry of Defence

Alongside engagement at official level, MOD Ministers will continue to engage with the Northern Ireland Executive’s elected representatives, including the Deputy First Minister, on defence and industry matters as they relate to Northern Ireland.

I last met with the Deputy First Minister at the launch of the Northern Ireland Defence Growth Deal - a £50 million investment into growing the defence ecosystem in Northern Ireland, which the MOD has been working with the Northern Ireland Executive’s Department for the Economy. By backing Northern Irish businesses, supporting growth in Northern Ireland and creating a skills initiative to develop a highly skilled workforce and train apprentices, we will support new, good quality and high skilled jobs across Northern Ireland.
