Student Finance England

Asked by Adam JogeeLabourDepartment for EducationTabled Answered 7 September 2026UIN 23745

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what steps she will take to ensure Student Finance England supports young people into higher education.

Answered by Department for Education

The department works closely with the Student Loans Company (SLC), which delivers Student Finance England (SFE), to ensure that prospective and current students receive the information and financial support they need to access and participate in higher education (HE).

The department monitors SLC's performance and works with the company to maintain and improve customer service and digital services, helping students access funding and obtain support when needed.

SLC engages directly with students through advisory groups to improve communications and customer services. SLC also works closely with higher and further education providers to ensure that accurate information about student finance is available to prospective students and their families.

Through this ongoing partnership, the department and SLC seek to ensure that student finance support remains accessible and effective for those considering HE.
