The question

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, what assessment he has made of the potential impact of the activities of the Russian government on the British economy.

Answered by Treasury

Russia's illegal and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine has undermined global security and prosperity. The UK's support for Ukraine remains unwavering and we will work with our allies to secure a just and lasting peace that safeguards Ukraine's sovereignty, security and long-term prosperity.

Russia's war continues to generate risks for global growth, trade and energy markets, with impacts felt around the world.

In response, the UK, alongside our allies, has supported Ukraine, including by imposing the largest and most severe package of sanctions ever applied to a major economy on Russia. We will continue to remain steadfast in our support for Ukraine.
