Fires: Staffordshire

Asked by Adam JogeeLabourMinistry of Housing, Communities and Local GovernmentTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 23762

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, whether she has received representations from Staffordshire's Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner in relation to a) fire safety and b) the outbreak of wildfires in Staffordshire in August 2026.

Answered by Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government

Staffordshire Commissioner for Police, Fire and Crime has engaged with Ministers through the Ministerial Advisory Group on Fire and Rescue Reform (MAGFRR) established in December 2024, as part of its commitment to work formally with all stakeholders across the fire and rescue sector.

The Staffordshire Commissioner wrote to Ministers seeking updated information on the Protection Uplift Grant which supports fire safety in May 2026, and a Ministerial response was provided.

Fire and rescue services have been responding to an exceptionally challenging period of wildfire activity, with multiple significant incidents being managed simultaneously across England and Wales.
