Local Government: Reorganisation

Asked by Adam JogeeLabourTreasuryTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 23763

The question

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, how many civil servants in His Majesty's Treasury are working on local government reorganisation.

Answered by Treasury

Responsibility for the oversight and implementation of the Local Government Reorganisation process sits with MHCLG as the lead department. HM Treasury staff work broadly across a range of issues including local government and regional growth.

As such, it is challenging to calculate a precise assessment of resourcing focused on Local Government Reform.
