Nuclear Power
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, whether she plans to take steps to support nuclear power.
Answered by Department for Energy Security and Net Zero
The government is committed to delivering a new golden age of nuclear, committing around £17bn across the Spending Review period to the most ambitious new build programme for a generation.
Once the Gwyndod small modular reactor project and Sizewell C come online in the 2030s, combined with Hinkley Point C, more new nuclear will be delivered to the grid than over the previous half century combined.
We are implementing the recommendations of the Nuclear Regulatory Review which will help us build the nuclear power we need quicker, cheaper and more efficiently.
Meanwhile, the Advanced Nuclear Framework sets out our approach to enabling privately-led advanced nuclear projects.
