Department for Energy Security and Net Zero: Senior Civil Servants

Asked by Charlie DewhirstConservativeDepartment for Energy Security and Net ZeroTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 23923

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, how many departmental Senior Civil Service away days have taken place in calendar year 2026 to date; in what specific venues; at what cost; and if there was any associated social or team-building activity at public expense.

Answered by Department for Energy Security and Net Zero

In 2026 to date, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero has held three Senior Civil Service offsite events. These events focused on Departmental Priorities and planning, as well as aspects of senior leadership development on areas such as AI.

  • 26th January 2026, Park Plaza London Waterloo.

  • 11th May 2026, Broadway House Toothill Street London.

  • 7th July 2026, Leonardo Royal Hotel St Pauls.

The total cost across the three leadership offsites was £51,345.12. The January 2026 cost includes a reasonable apportionment of supplier costs from a broader contract that covered broader leadership development interventions.

No associated social or team building activities were undertaken at public expense.
