Ministry of Justice: Unpaid Work
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, whether any internship schemes managed by (a) his Department and (b) each of its Arm’s Length Bodies are restricted to applicants on the basis of (i) ethnicity, (ii) social class and (iii) both.
Answered by Ministry of Justice
The Ministry of Justice hosts interns via the Civil Service Care Leavers Internship Scheme. The internship is restricted to applicants who are entitled to a leaving care package. The internship supports the Government’s commitment to social mobility.
Alongside this, the Criminal Cases Review Commission runs internships via the Kalisher Trust. Applicants are not restricted on the basis of ethnicity. The Kalisher Trust does seek applications from candidates who can demonstrate financial need.
