Ministry of Defence: Remote Working

Asked by Charlie DewhirstConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 23979

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what is the percentage office workplace attendance requirement in each of the department’s offices, broken down by location; and whether attendance statistics are collated for each of those individual offices.

Answered by Ministry of Defence

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) has implemented Government direction on increased workplace attendance. For office-based workers, an average of at least 60% of time is spent in the workplace. No central record of agreed working locations is held and thus attendance statistics for individual offices would only be available at disproportionate cost. However, in common with other Government Departments, the MOD does report its Headquarters’ building occupancy figure each quarter and this can be found at the following website: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/civil-service-hq-occupancy-data
