National Audit Office: Remote Working

Asked by Charlie DewhirstConservativePublic Accounts CommissionTabled Answered 7 September 2026UIN 23987

The question

To ask the Chairman of the Public Accounts Commission, what is the percentage office workplace attendance requirement in the National Audit Office; and whether attendance statistics are collated.

Answered by Public Accounts Commission

The National Audit Office (NAO)’s workplace attendance requirement is for all staff to routinely spend a minimum of two days a week working in either NAO offices or those of a body audited by the NAO. The NAO collects data on compliance with this requirement. In the months from April to June 2026, compliance with the policy ranged from 75% to 83% of NAO employees.
