Ministry of Defence: Communication

Asked by Charlie DewhirstConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 24061

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what was the outturn spending by the department on communications, marketing and advertising in (a) 2024-25 and (b) 2025-26.

Answered by Ministry of Defence

A full departmental response could only be provided at disproportionate cost.

Full external communications, advertising and marketing costs for the department are not held centrally. The majority of advertising and marketing expenditure is accounted for by advertising for the Royal Navy, Army, RAF and Ministry of Defence Police to aid recruitment.

All spending is subject to regular review to ensure it delivers value for money.
