Electoral Commission: Communication
The question
To ask the Right hon. Member for Kenilworth and Southam, representing the Speaker's Committee on the Electoral Commission, what the outturn spending was by the Electoral Commission on communications, marketing and advertising in (a) 2024-25 and (b) 2025-26.
Answered by Speaker's Committee on the Electoral Commission
The Commission has a statutory duty to run public awareness campaigns about electoral systems and connected matters, including ensuring all eligible voters understand how to participate.
It spent approximately £16.8 million in 2024/25 on informing voters, and £10.9 million in 2025/26, excluding staff costs. The budgets are agreed in advance with the relevant parliaments.
