Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government: Equality

Asked by Charlie DewhirstConservativeMinistry of Housing, Communities and Local GovernmentTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 24117

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, what specific diversity and inclusion (a) days, (b) weeks and (c) months, were recognised and marked by (i) the department and (ii) each of its agencies, in the calendar year 2025.

Answered by Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government

The Department (i) does not hold an official list of approved diversity and inclusion days, weeks, or months. All commemorative days, weeks, or months are considered on a case- by-case basis in discussion with our employee networks and senior sponsors including their alignment to broader departmental and civil service equality, diversity and inclusion objectives.

Specific diversity and inclusion days, weeks and months recognised and marked corporately by the department in 2025:

  • Diversity and inclusion days in 2025: Holocaust Memorial Day; International Women's Day; UK Windrush day.

  • Diversity and inclusion weeks in 2025: Anti-bullying week; Interfaith week; National inclusion week.

  • Diversity and inclusion months in 2025: Black history month; East and South East Asian heritage month.

Information on the Department’s (ii) agencies is not held centrally and can only be collected at a disproportionate cost to the department.
