Food: Exports
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade, what assessment he has made of trends in the level of export growth among Scottish food and drink producers.
Answered by Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade
In 2025, Scotland exported £7.0 billion worth of food and drink; this was over a quarter (27%) of total UK food and drink exports.
The value of food and drink exports from Scotland has risen 48% in current prices over the last decade (2015-2025), but fallen slightly (1.6%) compared to 2024.
The volume of food and drink exports from Scotland has remained broadly unchanged over the last decade; at 1.7 million tonnes in 2025, up 3% from 2015 and down 3% from 2024.
UK trade data is collected by HMRC at the UK level and allocated to UK nations and regions by linking to the Inter-Departmental Business Register (IDBR) and then apportioning by employment count data.
