Electricity: Prices
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, what metrics her Department will use to assess the effectiveness of measures to reduce household electricity bills.
Answered by Department for Energy Security and Net Zero
Tackling affordability is this Government's number one priority. The effectiveness of measures to reduce household electricity bills is assessed through their impact on consumer energy bills, including changes in the Ofgem price cap, and through the support provided to households through schemes such as the Warm Home Discount.
Recent measures include the removal of VAT from domestic electricity bills from 1 October and action taken at the last Budget which took an average £150 of costs off energy bills.
The Government will continue to monitor the impact of these measures and explore ways to lower energy bills for consumers.
