Flood Control: Business

Asked by Caroline VoadenLiberal DemocratDepartment for Environment, Food and Rural AffairsTabled Answered 4 September 2026UIN 24550

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what steps she is taking to support businesses at risk of flooding but ineligible for Flood Re insurance.

Answered by Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs

Businesses in flood risk areas should seek out the best insurance quotes available to them and may benefit from using an appropriate broker. There are a range of insurance products available, including the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) Commercial Property scheme for small and medium-sized enterprises, and parametric insurance products.
