The question

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, what estimate he has made of the level of public investment in research and development that will be required beyond 2029-30.

Answered by Treasury

To promote economic growth the government is increasing annual funding for Research and Development from £20.4bn in 2025/26 to £22.6bn by 2029/30. Decisions on funding beyond 2029/30 will be taken at future Spending Reviews.
