The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, what proportion of UK nuclear power is (a) owned and (b) financed by Chinese firms.

Answered by Department for Energy Security and Net Zero

No UK nuclear power currently being generated is owned or financed by Chinese firms. The UK's operating nuclear power stations are owned and operated by EDF.

China General Nuclear (CGN) retains a minority shareholding in Hinkley Point C, which is under construction and not yet generating electricity. As of the end of July 2026 CGN's shareholding was 22.6%.
