The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, whether he has considered introducing pre-appointment scrutiny by the Foreign Affairs Committee for political appointments to senior roles within the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.

The Government has noted the Foreign Affairs Committee's interest in such appointments and is committed to providing the Committee with the opportunity to scrutinise future political appointees to Head of Mission roles before deployment.
