Environmental Stewardship Scheme: Finance

Asked by Edward MorelloLiberal DemocratDepartment for Environment, Food and Rural AffairsTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 25028

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what estimate she has made of the number of farmers who have reduced or ended environmental stewardship activities due to changes in Government funding in West Dorset constituency.

Answered by Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs

Natural England is not aware of any farmers from West Dorset that have informed us of their intention to reduce or end their Defra agri-environment scheme due to changes in Government funding.

West Dorset has good coverage of Environmental Stewardship Higher Level Schemes, Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier, and Sustainable Farming Incentive. We continue to receive high levels of interest in both engagement in new schemes and renewal of existing schemes.
