The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, what steps she is taking to ensure that the inclusion of woodland greenhouse gas removal units within the UK Emissions Trading Scheme does not suppress investment in engineered greenhouse gas removal technologies.

The UK Emissions Trading Scheme Authority set out its position on the integration of Greenhouse Gas Removals in its July 2025 Response to Consultation. This included published analysis and evidence on woodland creation, but no decision on the possible integration of woodland in the UK ETS has been made.
