Bluetongue Disease: Disease Control
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what plans the Government has to provide farmers with updates as the bluetongue outbreak develops.
Answered by Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
Defra has continued to work closely with industry representatives throughout the outbreak to ensure farmers receive timely information and practical guidance. This has included regular disease alerts, social media updates, weekly communications to livestock keepers and a well-attended programme of industry webinars. The Battle Bluetongue campaign, running with industry partners since early 2025, continues to urge farmers to vaccinate their animals.
