Special Areas of Conservation: Property Development
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, which public body is responsible for maintaining strategic oversight of the cumulative impact of housing development on North Meadow Special Area of Conservation; and what arrangements are in place to (a) monitor the combined effectiveness of strategic and development-specific mitigation and (b) take corrective action where that mitigation does not prevent additional recreational pressure on the site.
Answered by Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
The Local Planning Authority is the responsible body for maintaining oversight for the impact of housing on the natural environment. We will work in partnership with the Local Planning Authority to monitor and review the effectiveness of the mitigation for development around North Meadow Special Area of Conservation and, through discussion, we will make any amendments to the plan. We see the local community as key to the effectiveness of the North Meadow Special Area of Conservation Interim Mitigation Strategy and wish to develop our relationship further with interested parties.
