RAF Fairford: Noise

Asked by Dr Roz SavageLiberal DemocratMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 7 September 2026UIN 25344

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what assessment his Department has made of the potential merits of commissioning a Military Aviation Noise Contour assessment for RAF Fairford in line with Joint Services Publication 418; and if he will make a statement on the timetable for doing so.

Answered by Ministry of Defence

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) are undertaking a programme to assess noise risk based on the levels of aircraft movement at various Defence sites. RAF Fairford is undergoing an Initial Noise Impact Assessment that will add detail to where the base falls on a list of all priority sites for potential future Military Aviation Noise Contour (MANC) assessment. The MOD will provide an update in due course.
