The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, with reference to the Competition and Markets Authority's press release entitled Parking charges: CMA takes action to drive improvements for motorists, published on 16 July 2026, when she plans to publish the Private Parking Code of Practice.

The Government is committed to raising standards in the private parking sector and strengthening protections for motorists through a new Private Parking Code of Practice. We welcome the CMA’s work and are carefully considering its recommendations as part of our policy development.
The Government consulted on measures relating to consideration periods and appeals arrangements in 2025 and is considering the evidence received as it finalises the Code. We intend to publish the new Private Parking Code of Practice in autumn 2026.
