Satellites: Finance
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade, with reference to the UK Space Agency press release entitled UK invests in homegrown space tech to boost national resilience, published on 20 July 2026, what recent discussions his Department has had with UK satellite manufacturers on the potential impact of additional funding on their business opportunities.
Answered by Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade
Programme teams within the UK Space Agency meet regularly with companies from across the space sector. Discussions can include future business planning and opportunities but are always bounded by the fact that most of our funding opportunities are run as competitions and specific proposals cannot be discussed once a funding call is open. Looking to the future, the Government will strengthen our domestic supply chain and support high-skilled jobs and innovation by using its procurement power. This will mean refocusing our grant programmes for businesses to enable fewer, higher-value awards aligned with our priorities.
