Space Technology: Finance
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade, with reference to the UK Space Agency press release entitled UK invests in homegrown space tech to boost national resilience, published on 20 July 2026, what recent discussions his Department has had with universities and research organisations on the allocation of funding.
Answered by Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade
The UK Space Agency regularly engages with universities and research organisations through networks such as the Space Academic Network (SPAN) and the Space Technology Advisory Committee (STAC), which includes academic representation. The Agency also engages with university partners through initiatives including the Space Cluster Network and the Space Clusters Infrastructure Fund.
The funding announced in July will be awarded through open competitive processes against published assessment criteria.
