To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what assessment she has made of the potential impact of supply teacher agency fees on school budgets.

The department recognises that expenditure on agency supply staff can represent a significant cost for some schools.
To help schools secure better value for money when recruiting temporary staff, the department and the Government Commercial Agency (GCA) launched a new agency supply staff framework, GCA RM6376 Supply Teachers and Education Recruitment, in May. The framework provides access to approved suppliers and includes measures to support value for money, including capped supplier fees, greater transparency of costs and standardised terms. The framework caps agency profits but total expenditure on supply staff includes salaries to workers and employment costs that can be affected by other factors.
The framework forms part of the department's maximising value for pupils programme, helping schools make the best use of their funding.
