The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade, with reference to the Government press release entitled £130 million for cutting-edge next generation vehicles securing over 1,800 jobs, published on 10 August 2026, what assessment has been made of the potential impact of Government support for particular automotive technologies on competition between businesses.

Projects announced in the Government's press release of 10 August 2026 were assessed through the relevant programme assessment processes before funding was awarded, including compliance with the UK's subsidy control regime. Funding is awarded on a competitive basis and is designed to support investment that might not otherwise proceed at the same scale or pace, while promoting innovation and strengthening UK automotive supply chains.
