Asylum: Hotels

Asked by James McMurdockIndependentHome OfficeTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 25782

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, with reference to the Government press release entitled Thirteen asylum hotels exited and returned to local communities, published on 12 August 2026, what assessment has been made of the condition of the 13 hotels has been returned to its owners.

Answered by Home Office

The Home Office works closely with accommodation providers to ensure that accommodation used for asylum support complies with contractual requirements while it is in use. Following the return of a hotel to its owner, decisions regarding the condition, maintenance, refurbishment and future operation of the property are a matter for the owner or operator.
