Strategic Defence Review
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, when he plans to publish a costed implementation plan for delivering the capabilities identified in the Strategic Defence Review.
Answered by Ministry of Defence
The Defence Investment Plan (DIP), published on 30 June 2026, is the costed plan to deliver the vision and capabilities set out in the Strategic Defence Review (SDR), setting out the investment choices the Government has made for UK Defence to 2035.
The DIP is backed by nearly £300bn of investment over the next four years – including an additional £15bn increase in spending power above what was agreed at last year’s Spending Review. The £74bn allocated to MOD next year (2027-2028) is £20bn more than the last year of the previous government, and will continue to grow for the rest of the parliament.
