To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, whether the Department plans to introduce standardised recording of the circumstances in which prison officers are assaulted.

We currently standardise recording of critical elements of assaults which can be readily categorised and support this with a free text field to present a fuller picture of the incident that can inform operational action. This information can be used to ensure that appropriate tailored support is provided to staff who have been assaulted.
