Energy: Small Businesses
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, what assessment she has made of the impact of energy debt repayment arrangements on the ability of small businesses to remain financially viable.
Answered by Department for Energy Security and Net Zero
As an independent regulator, Ofgem are responsible for monitoring non-domestic energy debt and supplier's behaviours around debt management, repayments and disconnections.
Supplier's debt practices must adhere to Ofgem rules and guidance and be consistent with the overarching customer objective that suppliers treat non-domestic consumers fairly.
Ofgem continually monitor supplier's compliance with these requirements and undertake formal and informal enforcement actions where necessary.
