Lower Thames Crossing: Construction
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what assessment she has made of the potential impact of construction traffic associated with the Lower Thames Crossing on villages in South Basildon and East Thurrock.

As part of the statutory planning process, National Highways used a strategic transport model to assess the likely effects of the Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) on local road use, including in South Basildon and East Thurrock, during both the construction and operational phases. The assessment informed the Development Consent Order application and the examination of the scheme's impacts.
The assessment of forecast changes to the road network once the project is operational is set out in Chapter 7 of the LTC Transport Assessment, with the assessment for the construction phase detailed in Chapter 8. Both impacts are also shown within the LTC Community Impacts Report. Construction impacts are being managed through control documents, including the Framework Construction Travel Plan and the Outline Traffic Management Plan. Once operational, impacts will be monitored in line with the Wider Network Impacts Management and Monitoring Plan.
