The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, pursuant to the Answer of 29 July 2026 to Question 8165 on Chagos Islands: Sovereignty and with reference to comments made by the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, during Departmental Questions on 1 September 2026, what recent representations he has made to the Treasury about the proportion of the budget that needs to be allocated to the Chagos treaty in the context of future UK expenditure on foreign affairs.

Payments will be published in the normal manner alongside other departmental spend in the annual accounts. No payments are due under the terms of the UK-Mauritius agreement until the Treaty has been ratified.
