Firearms Licensing Fees

Written ministerial statementMade by Sarah JonesThe Minister of State for Policing and CrimeHome OfficeHCWS4

The Government is today laying a statutory instrument before Parliament to introduce increases in firearms licensing fees by the rate of inflation to ensure that these fees continue to provide full cost recovery for the police. These increases follow the comprehensive review of, and increases to, firearms licensing fees in February 2025. The new fees come into effect from 4 June 2026.

The fees are increasing by three per cent, in line with the Consumer Prices Index (CPI), for all statutory firearms licensing fees, based on Office for National Statistics CPI figures for the 12 months to February 2026.
