Verbatim (“Verbatim”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a live, searchable transcript of proceedings in the House of Commons, available at getverbatim.co. Verbatim is a service operated by Verbatim AI Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company no. 17373775). You can reach us at hello@getverbatim.co.

These terms govern your use of Verbatim. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy.

1. What Verbatim is

Verbatim produces a fast, automated, unofficial transcript of proceedings in the House of Commons, generated using automatic speech recognition and enriched with information about who is speaking. It also offers search, alerts and AI research tools over that record.

Verbatim is not the official record of Parliament. The official record is Hansard. Our transcript is fast but not perfect and may contain errors. It must not be relied upon as a verbatim or legal record; where accuracy matters, verify against Hansard. Nothing on Verbatim is legal, professional or investment advice.

2. Accounts

• You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
• You are responsible for the information you provide and for keeping your password secure. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
• You are responsible for activity carried out under your account. Do not share your login, and do not create an account for anyone else without their permission.

3. Acceptable use

When using Verbatim you must not:

• scrape, harvest, resell or systematically extract the service or its content beyond what the underlying Open Parliament Licence permits;
• copy, redistribute or build a competing product from our compiled transcript, search index, AI outputs or other proprietary material;
• attempt to disrupt, overload, probe or gain unauthorised access to the service or its infrastructure, or circumvent rate limits or access controls;
• use the service unlawfully, to infringe others’ rights, or to defame any person; or
• reverse engineer or attempt to derive source code, except to the extent the law permits.

We may apply reasonable rate limits and may suspend or terminate access that breaches these terms.

4. Plans, billing and cancellation

• Reading the live feed and archive, searching, and following members and topics for alerts are available on a free plan. Paid plans (currently Pro, Team and Enterprise) add further features.
• Paid subscriptions are billed in advance through our payment processor, Stripe, on the cycle you choose (monthly or annual) and renew automatically until cancelled.
• You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and you keep access until then. Except where required by law, fees already paid are non-refundable.
• Prices are shown on our pricing page and may be exclusive of VAT or other taxes, which will be added where applicable. We may change prices on reasonable notice; changes do not affect the period you have already paid for.
• Promotional offers (such as founding-member discounts) apply only as described and for the stated period, after which standard pricing applies.

5. Intellectual property

Underlying Parliamentary material is Parliamentary copyright and is made available under the Open Parliament Licence v3.0. Everything else — our software, design, compiled and corrected transcript, search index, AI-generated summaries and answers, and the Verbatim name and branding — belongs to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for your own internal or journalistic purposes, subject to these terms. You retain ownership of content you submit (for example saved research), and grant us the licence needed to operate the service for you.

6. Availability and changes

We aim to keep Verbatim available and accurate but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. We may change, suspend or withdraw features, and may carry out maintenance, at any time. We may update the service and these terms; material changes will be notified by updating this page and, where appropriate, by email.

7. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, and to the fullest extent permitted by law:

• the service is provided “as is” and we exclude all implied warranties;
• we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, data or goodwill, or for any decision taken in reliance on the transcript or AI outputs; and
• our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in that period or £100.

8. Termination

You may stop using Verbatim and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms or where reasonably necessary to protect the service or other users. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including sections 5, 7 and 9) will do so.

9. Governing law

These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, save that if you are a consumer you may also benefit from mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
